Existing limits on the nonradiative decay of one neutrino to another plus a massless particle (e.g., a singlet Majoron) are very weak. The best limits on the lifetime to mass ratio come from solar neutrino observations and are tau/m greater, similar 10(-4) s/eV for the relevant mass eigenstate(s). For lifetimes even several orders of magnitude longer, high-energy neutrinos from distant astrophysical sources would decay. This would strongly alter the flavor ratios from the phi(nu(e)):phi(nu(mu)):phi(nu(tau))=1:1:1 expected from oscillations alone and should be readily visible in the near future in detectors such as IceCube. 相似文献

The synthesis and single crystal structure of 25,27-(diamidomonoazacrown-5)-calix[4]arene (L), calix[4]arene capped by a diamide bridge in the 1,3-position on the lower rim, which forms a supramolecular dimer in the solid state via intermolecular hydrogen bonding, are described. A 4-aminophthalimide (AP) fluorophore has been regioselectively linked to the secondary amino function of the azacrown unit with a dimethylene spacer to construct N-(4-aminophthalimidoethyl)calix[4]azacrown (APL), a fluorescent sensor, via a fluorophore-spacer-receptor architecture. Fluorescence quantum yield and lifetime of APL have been measured to be lower than those of the bare fluorophore (AP) due to the photoinduced intramolecular electron transfer (PIET) between the fluorophore and the receptor moieties of the molecule. In the presence of transition metal ions, fluorescence enhancement of is observed suggesting the binding of the metal ion to the sensor. Complexation properties of APL with transition metal ions are investigated using UV-vis spectroscopy. A 1 : 1 stoichiometry of the complex is determined from a Job plot and the corresponding association constants for the various metal ions are evaluated. Fe(3+) and Cu(2+) ions have the largest association constants (K= 2.3 x 10(5) M(-1) and 1.6 x 10(5) M(-1) respectively) compared to other metal ions indicating that they form complexes selectively with APL. 相似文献

A potent and highly selective inhibitor of protein kinase C alpha has been generated via the combinatorial modification of a consensus sequence peptide. The inhibitor displays a Ki of 800 pM versus variable peptide substrate and good selectivity versus other members of the PKC family, including PKCbeta (385-fold), PKCgamma (580-fold), PKCdelta (2730-fold), PKCepsilon (600-fold), PKCeta (1310-fold), PKCtheta (1210-fold), PKCiota (940-fold), and PKCzeta (640-fold). Investigation of vibration and buckling of thin walled composite structures is very sensitive to parameters like uncertain material properties and thickness imperfections. Because of the manufacturing process and others, thin walled composite and other structures show uncertainties in material properties, and other parameters which cannot be reduced by refined discretization. These parameters are mostly spatial distributed in nature. Here I introduce a semivariogram type material property model to predict the spatial distributed material property (like young's modulus) over the structure. The computation of semivariogram parameters needs the local material properties over a prespecified gird. The material properties at each grid have been obtained by considering a statistically homogeneous representative volume element (RVE) at each gird. According to random nature of the spatial arrangement of fibers, the statistically homogeneous RVE is obtained using image processing. The effective material properties of the RVE have been obtained numerically with the help of periodic boundary condition. The methodology is applied to a composite panel model and modal analysis has been carried. The results of the modal analysis (eigen values and mode shapes) are compared with experimental modal analysis results which are in good agreement. Using the presented material property model we can better predict the vibration characteristics of the thin walled composite structures with the inherent uncertainties. Diethyleneglycol methylethermethacrylate(MeO2MA) and oligoethylene glycol methylethermethacrylate(OEGMA) are polymerized on polythiophene(PT) backbone to produce water‐soluble PT‐g‐PMeO2MA(PTD) and PT‐g‐P(MeO2MA‐co‐OEGMA)(PTDO) using atom transfer radical polymerization. They are characterized by 1H NMR and GPC techniques. TEM micrographs indicate that PT‐chains self‐organize as nanospheres, and atomic force micrographs suggest that aggregated PT‐chains are present at the centre surrounded by dispersed PMeO2MA fibers producing miceller‐type aggregates. Dynamic light scattering study indicates an initial decrease followed by sharp increase of Z‐average particle size of PTD with temperature for attaining lower critical solution temperature (LCST) at 20 °C. The LCST increases with OEGMA concentration in PTDO. The temperature dependent PL emission of PTD shows a minimum at 19 °C, followed by a sharp increase till 21 °C, and in the cooling cycle, it shows a complete reversibility. In the PTDO copolymers, the PL intensity shows the hike at progressively higher temperatures due to the increase of LCST with increasing OEGMA concentration. © 2012 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. A mathematical model for the quantitative analysis of cancer immune interaction, considering the role of humoral (antibody) mediated immune response with two time delays, namely maturation and interaction delays has been proposed in this paper. The aim of this work is to assess the effect of time delays on the interaction between cancerous cells and the antibodies. After categorizing the parametric plane into different regions based on the existence of equilibria, we investigate both analytically and through simulations, the stability of equilibria and the onset of sustained oscillations through Hopf bifurcations. The direction and stability of the Hopf bifurcation which occurs at the positive interior equilibrium point of the system have also been studied. It is observed that both the delays play an important role in stability switching. Appropriate therapy with a proper choice of system parameters are suggested to obtain cancer free equilibrium. 相似文献
